How Government killed BSNL

How long will BSNL be able to take the blows and remain in the ring?

This is how Government killed BSNL;

  • First, it allowed it to bid for 4G Spectrum, then for no reason, it asked BSNL to take back the money and did not allot it any 4G Spectrum.
  • Then it allotted it 4G Spectrum.
  • Then it told BSNL that for 'security' reasons, it has to buy 4G equipment only from an Indian vendor.
  • Government knew very well that there was no 4G equipment vendor who could provide equipment to BSNL.
  • The contract was awarded to TCS.
  • TCS failed to meet several deadlines to develop and deliver the equipment.
  • BSNL continued to work with 3G technology and kept losing customers to Jio, Airtel and Vodafone.
  • Then the competition, Jio and Airtel moved on to 5G technology.
  • BSNL lost more customers with each passing month.

Now, TCS has finally delivered on 4G equipment and BSNL has started rolling out 4G in parts of India. The damage has been permanently done. First was the poor perception of a Government owned company and second was the delays in technology.

News today is Airtel and Jio have placed multi billion dollar orders on Erricson, Nokia and Samsung to purchase 5G eqipment

BSNL, the company owned by the citizens, I and you, is not yet ready with 4G.

It will take another few years before BSNL moves to 5G.

By that time, it will be almost without any customers.

By the way, Government now holds 23% equity in Vodafone, the company that has more then 3,00,000 Crore as debt and is tottering on the verge of failure.

But Government will not allow BSNL to use the Vodafone network although it is the single largest share holder in Vodafone and with more dues likely to get converted into equity may become the main share holder in Vodafone.

This is how Narendra Modi's government has killed BSNL for the benefit of Jio and Airtel.

Soon, Gautam Adani may make a bid for BSNL and it might get sold for a song and people will be told that it is good for them as the company was 'loss-making'.

What they will not tell you is that Narendra Modi's government killed it.

The Eknath Shinde/Fadnavis/Ajit Pawar Government decided to waive off toll for Light Motor Vehicles beginning midnight of 14th October 2024.

The model code of conduct for elections announced in Maharashtra too kicked in at the same time.

It is another attempt at swaying the voters to vote for Mahayuti Sarkar of Shinde/Fadnavis/Pawar.

In a statement, Eknath Shinde claimed that this was not being done keeping the elections in mind.

Of course, all the 38 ground breaking ceremonies, all the schemes, like the Ladki Behna Scheme, all the sops have got nothing to do with elections.

What wonders is that why all of this is happening in the last 30 days of the existence of this ‘illegal’ government?

The Supreme Court had categorically called this government ‘illegal’ but refrained from pulling it down, leaving the decision to the speaker, Rahul Navekar. The speaker dragged his feet for two years and then said that all MLA’s remain qualified even when they had broken all rules of anti-defection law. Those who defected were allowed to continue and those who continued to remain in the old outfit were allowed to continue too! The breakaway party was given the official tag by the election commission and those who remained back, defying the whip of the breakaway party, were also not disqualified!

Ostensibly, Eknath Shinde claimed that he was worried about the delays on the toll booth face by car owners and therefore took the decision. He is not interested in the chair (sic) but only interested in the interest of the people.

As per contract between the Government and the Toll Operator, all losses incurred by this decision will have to be borne by the Maharashtra Government.

It is estimated that 2,80,000 Light Motor Vehicles pay toll every day. Calculated at 90 Rupees for a round trip, the amount works out to 2.5 Crores per day or 919.8 Crores every year.

According to official data, the loss is just 50 Lakhs per day, which defies all calculations. Even if one was to consider 2,80,000 vehicles at 45 Rupees per day, the amount comes to 1.2 Crores per day and not 50 Lakh as officially claimed.

The toll concession was given for 16 years for 2100 Crores. Assuming that just 1 Crore was collected every day for 16 years, the amount comes to 1 Crore x 16 Years x 365 Days = 5,840 Crores. The MEP (Mumbai Entry Point) Company walked away with 3,740 Crores (after kickbacks and bribes of course).

Earlier this money was being paid by those who were using the roads, now it will be paid by everybody in the state as now this money will be paid by the State Government from its own tax collection taken from those who live in Maharashtra. That man in Latur too will pay for this decision as will the people of Pune.

It is a good move anyway. The cost of flyover / bridge construction has been recovered a long time back but the toll was continuing. It was a long pending demand of the citizens of Mumbai. Toll plaza’s were leading to traffic snarls and wastage of precious fuel which is an imported commodity.

Although the removal is good, it would have been better that the government had cancelled the toll contracts and removed the toll plaza’s all together by paying off the toll operators their dues. That would have been a better one-time solution.

This attempt to appease the voters and then claiming that this has nothing to do with the elections makes one say, ‘Yeh Baat Kuch Hazam Nahi Hui’.

Rich take out 19,50,000 Crores from India, send it to Hong Kong, Singapore

One Billion US Dollar is 8300 Crores (at an exchange rate of 83 per US Dollar). According to this report published in Business Standard, the rich have taken 235 Billion out just to Singapore and Hong Kong.

That is 19,50,500 Crores.

This is more than the money that was demonetized on 8th November 2016. Total Currency (500/1000) Notes demonetized was 15.98 Lakh Crores.

It is usually said that it is the rats are first to come to know that th e ship is sinking and therefore, they are the first to abandon ship.

The rich, having made their fortunes here in India are not sticking around.

And then there are idiot NRI's who are still sending money and investing in India, all thanks to Modi's road shows.

BJP has destroyed every party that it has allied with

BJP follows the 'Embrace and Destroy' method.

It allied with the Akali Dal, today Akali Dal lies in tatters.

It allied with BJD in Odisha, the result is that BJP rules Odisha and won all the Lok Sabha seats from there.

It allied with JD(U) and see Nitish Kumar has been cut to size.

It allied with PDP in Kashmir, PDP returned with just 3 seats.

It allied with Shiv Sena and tried to destroy it. When it could not destroy it, as Uddhav Thackeray stood his ground, they split the party using ED and CBI threats.

In the 2019 elections, BJP and Shiv Sena fought the Maharashtra Elections together.

Before the election, Shiv Sena was told that they will get a CM for 2.5 years and BJP would get for 2.5 years.

This was promised to Uddhav Thackeray before the elections by none other than Amit Shah.

After BJP managed to get 105 seats and Shiv Sena got 56, out of a total of 288 seats, the alliance had crossed the majority mark of 144 and was all set to form the government.

The only question that remained is who will rule first, BJP or Shiv Sena? Shiv Sena was ready for either the first 2.5 years or the second 2.5 years.

But BJP went back on its promise of giving half the term to Shiv Sena.

Mind you, at that point of time, Uddhav Thackeray was not even an MLA and not in the race to become the CM.

Actually, he later revealed that he would have put Eknath Shinde as the CM candidate, had BJP agreed to the prearranged formula.

But BJP was worried, if it gave Shiv Sena the first 2.5 years and they gave a spectacular governance, then BJP would be in the soup, and if the gave the later 2.5 years, that would put Shiv Sena in the pole position before elections.

So, Amit Shah decided not to honor his promise and did not even come to Mumbai after the elections.

As there was no one party in a position to form the government, the state was placed under President's Rule.

Then we saw the drama of Devendra Fadnavis taking oath as CM and Ajit Pawar as Deputy CM one day at 5 a.m.

This was the same Ajit Pawar that Devendra Fadnavis had said, would be arrested and sent to jail, where he would 'Chakki Peesing aur Peesing aur Peesing'!

That arrangement did not last for even three days.

The result was Devendra Fadnavis had to cut a sorry figure and Ajit Pawar walked away with a 'clean-chit'.

After that, NCP, Congress and Shiv Sena came together to form the MVA and Uddhav Thackeray was asked to become the CM.

When he became the CM, Uddhav Thackeray did not attend the assembly as he was not yet a member of the assembly.

It was later that he got elected as an MLA and only then did he start attending the assembly.

30 months later, Devendra Fadnavis split the Shiv Sena and took away 40 MLA's under the threat of ED/CBI arrests and formed the Maha Yuti Government.

This Government was declared illegal by the SC but it did not pull down the government. One of the blots on the tenure of CJI DY Chandrachaud.

Uddhav Thackeray has time and again warned about BJP attempt to destroy Shiv Sena and they almost succeeded.

In 2024, given the BJP's poor performance in General Elections, it is estimated that BJP's numbers will fall to 50-55 from the 105.

The Adani factor, the taking away of projects to Gujarat just before the Gujarat Elections and the collapse of a statue of Shivaji are all things that weight heavily on BJP.

BJP's plan of destroying Shiv Sena failed. It will lead to surprising results in the upcoming Maharashtra Elections.

Eknath Shinde's 'illegal' government survives 30 months

Pune Residents Seek Criminal Case Against Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde Over Alleged Discrepancies In Election Affidavits
Two and half years ago, a group of 40 MLA's from Shiv Sena were given an option;

Take 50 Crore each (Pannas Khoke) and split the Shiv Sena or go to jail in cases that would be filed if they refused the offer.

All the 40 MLA's were shown their files that were ready with the ED, if they chose not to split.
They took the decision to split the party and join BJP and form a new government.

Eknath Shinde had then said that his government will last the entire term and no court will be able to do anything as he was being backed by very powerful people (alluding to Modi and Shah).

True to what he had said, 30 months later, even the highest court of the country, did not remove the government it called illegal in its own order.

Under normal circumstances, such an act, of giving people a Hobson's choice is called Black Mail.

What Modi/Shah have been doing is nothing other than black mail. They allegedly are having dossiers on all the corrupt people in the country, including their own leaders and party men/women. That is why there has been no rebellion within the party to their high handedness.

For all that you know, they might be having such dossiers on the judges too.

That would explain why the SC, even after calling the Maharashtra Government illegal, refused to remove it from power and played passing-the-parcel with Maharashtra assembly speaker.

It is now for the public to ensure that Eknath Shinde and his associates, Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar (the 1000 Crore Irrigation Scam tainted) are thrown out of power.

If that does not happen then blackmail would have won the day.

Love is therefore a "decision". Not just a feeling."

Some Sunday Gyan from a post on the Internet

"The key to succeeding in a relationship is not finding the right person; it's learning to love the person you found.

People blame their partners for their unhappiness and look outside for fulfillment. Extramarital fulfillment comes in all shapes and sizes.
Infidelity is the most common. But sometimes people turn to work, a hobby, friendship, excessive TV, or abusive substances. But the answer to this dilemma does NOT lie outside your relationship. It lies within it.

I'm not saying that you couldn't fall in love with someone else. You could. And TEMPORARILY you'd feel better. But you'd be in the same situation a few years later.

Because (listen carefully to this):

The key to succeeding in a Relationship is not finding the right person; it's learning to love the Person you found.

SUSTAINING love is not a passive or spontaneous experience. You have to work on it day in and day out. It takes time, effort, and energy. And most importantly, it demands WISDOM. You have to know

WHAT TO DO to make it work. Make no mistake about it.

Love is NOT a mystery. There are specific things you can do (with or without your partner), Just as there are physical laws Of the universe (such as gravity), there are also laws for relationships. If you know how to apply these laws, the results are predictable.

Love is therefore a "decision". Not just a feeling."

Are you a Pro or an Amateur?

WE’RE ALL PROS ALREADY

May be an image of 1 person and studying

All of us are pros in one area: our jobs.

We get a paycheck. We work for money. We are professionals.

Now: Are there principles we can take from what we’re already successfully doing in our workaday lives and apply to our artistic aspirations? What exactly are the qualities that define us as professionals?

1) We show up every day. We might do it only because we have to, to keep from getting fired. But we do it. We show up every day.

2) We show up no matter what. In sickness and in health, come hell or high water, we stagger in to the factory. We might do it only so as not to let down our co-workers, or for other, less noble reasons. But we do it. We show up no matter what.

3) We stay on the job all day. Our minds may wander, but our bodies remain at the wheel. We pick up the phone when it rings, we assist the customer when he seeks our help. We don’t go home till the whistle blows.

4) We are committed over the long haul. Next year we may go to another job, another company, another country. But we’ll still be working. Until we hit the lottery, we are part of the labor force.

5) The stakes for us are high and real. This is about survival, feeding our families, educating our children. It’s about eating.

6) We accept remuneration for our labor. We’re not here for fun. We work for money.

7) We do not over identify with our jobs. We may take pride in our work, we may stay late and come in on weekends, but we recognize that we are not our job descriptions.

The amateur, on the other hand, over identifies with his avocation, his artistic aspiration. He defines himself by it. He is a musician, a painter, a playwright. Resistance loves this.

Resistance knows that the amateur composer will never write his symphony because he is overly invested in its success and over terrified of its failure. The amateur takes it so seriously it paralyzes him.

8) We master the technique of our jobs.

9) We have a sense of humor about our jobs.

10) We receive praise or blame in the real world.

Now consider the amateur: the aspiring painter, the wannabe playwright. How does he pursue his calling?

One, he doesn’t show up every day. Two, he doesn’t show up no matter what. Three, he doesn’t stay on the job all day. He is not committed over the long haul; the stakes for him are illusory and fake. He does not get money. And he over identifies with his art. He does not have a sense of humor about failure. You don’t hear him bitching, “This fucking trilogy is killing me!” Instead, he doesn’t write his trilogy at all.

The amateur has not mastered the technique of his art. Nor does he expose himself to judgment in the real world. If we show our poem to our friend and our friend says, “It’s wonderful, I love it,” that’s not real-world feedback, that’s our friend being nice to us. Nothing is as empowering as real-world validation, even if it’s for failure.

The first professional writing job I ever had, after seventeen years of trying, was on a movie called King Kong Lives. I and my partner-at-the-time, Ron Shusett (a brilliant writer and producer who also did Alien and Total Recall) hammered out the screenplay for Dino DeLaurentiis. We loved it; we were sure we had a hit. Even after we’d seen the finished film, we were certain it was a blockbuster. We invited everyone we knew to the premiere, even rented out the joint next door for a post-triumph blowout. Get there early, we warned our friends, the place’ll be mobbed. Nobody showed. There was only one guy in line beside our guests and he was muttering something about spare change. In the theater, our friends endured the movie in mute stupefaction. When the lights came up, they fled like cockroaches into the night.

Next day came the review in Variety: “. . . Ronald Shusett and Steven Pressfield; we hope these are not their real names, for their parents’ sake.” When the first week’s grosses came in, the flick barely registered. Still I clung to hope. Maybe it’s only tanking in urban areas, maybe it’s playing better in the burbs. I motored to an Edge City multiplex. A youth manned the popcorn booth. “How’s King Kong Lives?” I asked. He flashed thumbs-down. “Miss it, man. It sucks.”

I was crushed. Here I was, forty-two years old, divorced, childless, having given up all normal human pursuits to chase the dream of being a writer; now I’ve finally got my name on a big-time Hollywood production starring Linda Hamilton, and what happens? I’m a loser, a phony; my life is worthless, and so am I.

My friend Tony Keppelman snapped me out of it by asking if I was gonna quit. Hell, no! “Then be happy. You’re where you wanted to be, aren’t you? So you’re taking a few blows.

That’s the price for being in the arena and not on the sidelines.

Stop complaining and be grateful.”

That was when I realized I had become a pro. I had not yet had a success. But I had had a real failure

Have we lost all sense of empathy?

In the last week of August, the city of Vadodara went under water.

Almost 40% of the city remained under water for four days. There was no supply of water or electricity. Mobile phones ran out of power, Mobile network towers died as they ran out of power.

Obtaining food became a problem.

The river, Vishwamitri, that flows through the city broke its banks and inundated the city.

Houses on the ground floor were completely destroyed. Shops and Establishments in the lower floors of shopping center were flooded with water.

The water that was flooding the city was contaminated with sewer water, thus there was no chance of recovering anything that had been touched by this flooding.

It is estimated that 50 Crore would be required just to restore the vehicles that had met a watery grave.

Business losses run into thousands of crores.

The administration went missing for these four days.

Politicians that later came to visit the colonies were shooed away. The politicians then sent police to arrest those who were shooing them away, filed cases against them, only to see their cases being thrown out of the court by judges who took the police to task.

That was in August. Come October, the city is back on its feet and dancing through the night in the nine night festival of 'Garba'.

Millions of rupees are being spent on this festival. Some of the organizers (yes, it is no longer a community festival but a business opportunity to make money) sold tickets to their 'events' for as high as 4000 rupees a pop.

But it has been raining in the city.

Question is, how can anyone be so self centered and celebrate knowing that hundreds of thousands have lost their all in the recent floods?

Do the citizens of Vadodara or indeed any other city in India have any empathy left in them?

How can you dance the night away in gay abandon knowing that lives have been lost, homes and businesses destroyed just a month ago?

Why people don't channelize their energies in doing something constructive than just going out and spending money on themselves with nary a care about others?

How can we build a more empathetic nation, if our approach to tragedy remains just a lip-service.

Who's to Blame for Congress debacle in Haryana?

Congress leadership in Haryana
Congress leadership in Haryana is to blame?

This is how Congress lost an election that was a cake walk for it in Haryana.

Sometimes, winning an election is not just securing the highest vote, it is also dividing the other party such that you win by default.

That is what seems to have happened in Haryana.

Congress rebel candidates ensured that the official candidate’s votes were taken away by them.

Thus, one can blame those who distributed the tickets as they seem to have misjudged the capability of the candidate that they fielded and perhaps ignored other aspirants to the seat.

Also, one can not for sure know, who financed these rebels?

Elections are a very costly affair. Any candidate that contests ends up spending a few crores on the election. Of course, there are just rewards after getting elected. You can become a minister or get a cosy job as a Chairman of a corporation. In each case, you can recover the money that you spent on your election and more.

BJP has won the day with 48 seats. A detailed analysis will reveal that total votes of the BJP candidate is less than the sum of those votes garnered by Congress and its rebel candidate. Congress was done in by its rebels.

If the aim of becoming a legislator is to gain power and through power gain pelf, then the rebels have lost both of the opportunities. They perhaps thought that they will be able to defeat the official candidate and thus become valuable for the party or to the BJP as they would be independents who had won on their own (with help from BJP of course).

Their dreams lie shattered as they have become the proverbial Dhobi Ka Kutta, Na Ghar Ka, Na Ghat Ka.

Congress will have to do some deep introspection and course correction.

BJP will finance rebel candidates, it may even offer them money for the elections and also pay them more not just to cover their expenses for the next five years in the political arena but also for leading a cozy life for the next five years. They would also have entered the BJP’s inner circle.

After all, not every MLA who wins gets a shot at a ministry or a department where they can make money. So, it is better to contest as a rebel, all expenses paid by BJP and laugh all the way to the bank too.

BJP’s performance of 48 seats is even better than its performance in 2014, at the peak of Modi wave. It looks like they won by default. They won because Congress did not quell the rebel candidates.

Why did the Congress not quell the rebel candidates?

The reason why Congress perhaps did not quell the rebel candidates is that, one it was sure that it will win, no matter which candidate they put up, two, they were cocksure about Rahul Gandhi’s charisma taking them across the finish line, three, they thought that people were so upset that they would throw out BJP and by default Congress would win, four, they underestimated the power of rebels and perhaps ignored the fact that the rebels could be financed by BJP to split the votes.

Earlier, BJP would finance other smaller party’s to play the spoilsport, this time they did it from within Congress itself.

This time for Congress the danger came from within.

There are lessons to be learned here. If Congress does not learn the lessons from this election, Jharkhand and Maharashtra will also follow suit and fall into BJP’s lap, by default. In fact, Maharashtra will once again see Congress rebel candidates as they sense victory and a chance to form the government. Also, in Maharashtra, Shinde/Fadnavis/Ajit Pawar are better placed than BJP was in Haryana. In Haryana the three main issues were Kissan, Jawan and Pehalwan, all affecting the common people. In Maharashtra, the current government has been on a dole giving spree. It has given 4000 to every female that was registered under the Ladki Behna Scheme. BJP deployed its cadre in every village and street and ensured that maximum number of women apply for the scheme. The money has hit their bank accounts.

It does not matter that tomatoes are selling for 100 Rupees per kg, it does not matter that import duty on sunflower oil was increased by 20% (most sunflower oil is imported), it does not matter that vegetables and lentil prices are zooming out of control, what matters is that 4000 Rupees has hit the bank accounts!

If there is some sane counsel in Congress, it will learn lessons from its Haryana debacle and find out ways and means to quell the rebels such that it can take a fair shot at winning Maharashtra.

While writing this post, there was news that EVM’s were found which had a 99% charged battery, a physical impossibility. Does that mean that the EVM’s were tampered and votes inserted at a later stage? Only a detailed investigation will tell. But then, who will bell the cat?

Congress has missed many an opportunity to corner the Election Commission. Will the EC get away this time too? Only time will tell.

Will Congress win Jharkhand and Maharashtra? Given the way BJP fights the election, using everything at its disposal, using means fair and foul, one would say that it is an open season.

Bigger question is will Rahul Gandhi, the de-facto leader of Congress realize the folly of Haryana?

Why the Vote For Democracy report was important.

After the 2024 General Elections, where BJP barely managed to get 240 seats on its own steam, falling by 63 seats from its previous score of 303, an organization Vote For Democracy, came out with a detailed report.

This report which can be downloaded from the link given below

The Full report can be downloaded from this site of Vote for Democracy

This report clearly indicated that a huge number of votes were added to the actual voting numbers after the people had cast their votes.

In the above table the report categorically stated that at least 79 seats went in favor of BJP after the votes were manipulated.

Former IAS officer MG Devasahayam released this report in the public domain in July 2024.

Sadly, no political party from the opposition took up this report and pushed for clarification or investigation in the data that had been made available.

The Election Commission too scoffed at the report and called it an attempt to tarnish the image of the institution, but it too did not push for any punitive action against those who had created the report.

You see, if the Election Commission had gone to court, then it would have had to reveal its own data to refute the allegations. So, it decided to let sleeping dogs lie.

Now, had these 79 seats slipped away from BJP, its tally would have fallen to just 161 seats and there was no chance for it to form a government even with all the allies of NDA.

Why do we raise this issue now?

You must have heard the adage, once a thief, always a thief. BJP got away with murder of democracy via a allegedly compromised Election Commission. The opposition did not raise a hue and cry and did not even go to court with this report. It accepted the verdict and allowed Narendra Modi to form a government and that emboldened him and the EC to do what it has done in Haryana.

No commentator or journalist that was on the field is Haryana gave more than 15 seats to BJP. The Exit Polls also gave not more than 30 seats to BJP. Thus the result of BJP getting 45-50 seats (as the counting is still going on while writing this) is a better performance than its performance in 2014, when Modi wave was at its peak. In 2014, BJP had won 47 seats, a record that it might break this time around.

And there is a lesson for the opposition, especially Congress, in this. They should not any opportunity go by to expose the EC and the BJP. If they let go of such opportunities, then they will face the same fate as they are now doing in Haryana.

Maharashtra and Jharkhand are next. In both these states too, journalists and commentators are painting a sorry figure for BJP.

With the help of EC and with the sops that are being handed out, BJP may well pull a rabbit out of the hat and surprise the opposition.

Haryana Election Results, a blessing in disguise?

Congress lost Haryana and how! BJP returned a performance better than its 2014 performance when Modi wave was at its peak.

The vote share percentage ties both Congress and BJP at 39% or so. So, how come Congress lost and BJP won?

The devil my dear reader, is in detail.

It was the Congress rebel candidates that walked away with almost 11% of votes. They did the Congress in.

Congress snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

If the leadership wakes up to the mistakes they did in Haryana, this defeat can come as a blessing in disguise.

Nana Patole, the MPCC President is throwing his weight around in Maharashtra

The lessons are;

  1. Manage your rebel candidates. There should be no rebel candidate in the fray against your main candidate. Actively quell rebel candidates, they can be assuaged with other things such that they don’t cut into the votes of the main candidate.
  2. Don’t depend on a local leader to choose the candidates. In Haryana, Bhupinder Singh Hooda chose 70 of the 90 candidates. This might have been done to ensure that he does not have a tough time after the elections. He was confident that Congress would win but failed to take into account the dissident factor.
  3. In almost 17 assembly segments, Congress dissident candidate + Official candidate votes outnumber the winning BJP candidate vote. Had there been no dissidents, Congress would have got at least 17 more seats taking it to 54 seats, close to exit poll predictions.
  4. Don’t be a bully. Don’t assume you have won before the final vote has been counted. Behave like a sane organization that does not take anything for granted.
  5. Understand ground realities and concentrate on being united. The very public spat between Kumari Shelja and Bhupinder Singh Hooda did Congress in in Haryana.
  6. Respect your alliance partners.
  7. Don’t let the narrative that Rahul Gandhi has arrived and his charisma will take you over the finish line lull you into complacency. Rahul Gandhi does not have the backing of a strong grass root organization like the RSS. Most Congressmen are opportunistic leaders.

After the defeat in Haryana, there must have been relief in the Uddhav and Sharad Pawar Camp. The Congress had turned into a bully in Maharashtra.

Uddhav Thackeray of Shiv Sena (UBT) has public sympathy

The Congress would be well advised to project Uddhav Thackeray as the next CM. That will help the alliance. The reasons for this are;

  • Everyone knows that Uddhav has been wronged by his own party men and also by BJP.
  • Everyone acknowledges that Uddhav did a good job in the two and half years that he was in the seat.
  • Everyone knows that he is the victim of betrayal.

Therefore, there is a huge sympathy factor backing Uddhav. If Congress fails to cash this sympathy factor, then it will be repeat of Haryana in Maharashtra.

One can only hope that good sense prevails and adequate lessons are learnt from the Haryana debacle.

And yes, it is a big lesson for Rahul Gandhi. He should not be cocksure of victories and he still needs to work on his pitch to the voters. The pitch to the voters can not be same across the country. Issues that are relevant in Kerala and Karnataka may not be relevant in Haryana and vice-versa.

How Government killed BSNL

This is how Government killed BSNL; First, it allowed it to bid for 4G Spectrum, then for no reason, it asked BSNL to take back the money ...
